The Mooring Foundation mobilizes local resources to provide direct financial assistance and strategic support to individuals and families experiencing economic hardship, strengthening communities and promoting long-term economic stability in Atlanta and beyond.We envision a community where individuals and families are supported, stability is attainable, and acts of generosity inspire others to serve, spread more love, and uplift one another by doing more good.

Marcus L. Mooring is the Founder and President of The Mooring Foundation.Mr. Mooring is a senior healthcare executive with more than two decades of leadership experience, Marcus has built his career around developing strategic partnerships, bringing people together around shared goals, and leading initiatives that create meaningful, lasting impact. Throughout his professional career, he has consistently championed volunteerism, community engagement, and charitable giving, helping organize fundraising campaigns, volunteer service projects, nonprofit partnerships, and employee engagement initiatives that have benefited organizations throughout the Atlanta community.Marcus's commitment to service extends well beyond the workplace. For more than fifteen years, he has volunteered with Childkind, supporting children in foster care and advocating for the well-being of vulnerable youth. He has also been an active supporter of the American Heart Association, helping lead fundraising and volunteer efforts for the Greater Atlanta Heart Walk while encouraging others to become involved in causes that strengthen their communities.Believing that communities should never have to wait for someone else to solve their problems, Marcus founded The Mooring Foundation to demonstrate that ordinary people can create extraordinary impact when they choose to serve. The Foundation's mission is rooted in a simple belief: every act of generosity has the power to inspire another, creating a ripple effect that strengthens neighborhoods, restores hope, and brings people together.Marcus envisions The Mooring Foundation as more than a charitable organizationโit is a movement dedicated to spreading compassion through action. By organizing community service initiatives, providing direct assistance to individuals and families facing hardship, and empowering others to lead acts of kindness in their own communities, he hopes to inspire a culture where doing good becomes contagious.Marcus believes that while division often dominates headlines, compassion has the power to unite communities. Through The Mooring Foundation, he hopes to inspire a generation of neighbors helping neighborsโproving that when one person chooses to serve, others are encouraged to do the same. His vision is to help build a movement where communities become stronger not because they waited for change, but because they chose to create it together.

Our Team
Jermaine Cobbs is an accomplished technologist, entrepreneur and technology leader. He began his career while a junior at Chicago Vocational High School as JC Works, is a passionate technologist who enjoys all things tech. Mr. Cobbs realized early on that he was destined for technology and entrepreneurship, beginning with the very first computer his dad bought him as a gift. While dad was away Mr. Cobbs located the โhiddenโ gift, opened it, and completely disassembled the computer. Knowing dad would be home soon, he managed to reassemble it and the journey began.While in high school, Mr. Cobbs received notoriety in a statewide competition at the Illinois Institute of Technology where he built from scratch a working computer and was able to identify internal components through touch. Later Mr. Cobbs was given the opportunity to launch his own in-school business providing computer sales and service, landing his first contract with the Chicago Public Schools to build and manage ten desktop computers.Mr. Cobbs joined corporate America in an entry-level position and over the course of many years advanced his technology career from entry-level to senior management. Mr. Cobbs has had the pleasure of working for notable small, medium and large Fortune 500 organizations such as Ameritech (now AT&T), Best Buy, Dell, Chamberlin Edmonds (now Change Healthcare), MedAssets (now Vizient Health), Coca-Cola European Partners, Kids2, Facebook (now Meta) and Invesco. Further, Mr. Cobbs, has the honor of working alongside and befriending accomplished individuals as former Illinois Governor Jim Edgar, former Coca-Cola CEO John Brock, former Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg and Meta Founder & CEO Mark Zuckerberg.Mr. Cobbsโ wealth of technology experience, business acumen and adaptability makes him a highly sought after resource for individuals and businesses alike seeking to streamline operation, improve processes, and demonstrate fiscal responsibility.
